This is one awesome wine that I had the pleasure of enjoying one night at my health club, the Decathlon Club in Santa Clara, CA. I believe in rewarding myself after a hard workout, and one good glass of red wine is a wonderful way of getting antioxidants and keeping those arteries clean.
The Sterling winery is a wonderful place to visit - with a gondola ride that provides a fabulous view of Wine Country and an informative self-guided tour that explains every aspect of wine making.
This was a great wine to sip next to the gently flowing waterfall in the club, with an elegant yet fruity nose, rich, deep color and a soft yet vibrant finish. I found it full of ripe blackberry flavors, with an understated complexity and a velvety texture. I also tasted hints of coffee, spice, and plum on the fore palate.

A truly excellent end to a wonderful workout!

Food Pairings: I would serve this fine wine with a leg of lamb in a beautiful wine sauce, a veal roast, or a nice Ratatouile with a herbed tomato sauce base. It is soft, so would also go well with Dijon Chicken or Rock Cornish Game Hens with fresh herbs and balsamic vinegar.
Other Pairings: Along with being a great post workout treat, this wine would be an excellent accompaniment to an evening of listening to great Light Classics, like Gershwin or Ravel, or browsing through a picture book featuring the great Impressionist works, such as those by Manet or Rembrandt. I would also sip it lightly while enjoying a flower garden in full bloom.
