During the same pre-Jon Anderson tasting day, friend Dan was very hot(we had a Northern California heat wave) so ordered a nice Sauvignon Blanc. I was curious, so asked for a sip of his 2010 Sterling Sauvignon Blanc.
Now, understand that I am not usually a white wine drinker! But this was nice and soft, with a sophisticated edge that snuck up on me like a middle schooler playing hide-n-seek. Loved the Thai lemon grass flavor, grassy overtones, and nice, clean finish. I give this one a 90 for its type and class. And Dan liked it too.
Food pairings: Lemon chicken, Hot and Sour soup, celery sticks with almond butter, green garden salad, anything with zucchini in it, and Duck L'Orange. Would also work with any Singapore Airlines lunch dish.
Music Pairings: Bright and edgy, this is the Thomas Dolby "She Blinded Me with Science" wine. Also recommend it with Diane Schurr's " I'm Beginning to See the Light".
Other Pairings: A good wine to drink while wearing a new pair of running shoes, or star gazing at night. Also good for packing for a trip to Europe.
Where to Buy: You can buy this at the winery at www.sterlingvineyards.com (they have a splash screen that checks to see if you are 21 years old), or from Safeway. Or you can buy the 2006 (I have not tasted it) from Wine.com using the link below:
